DU Cut First Off List Indicates Increasing Demand for Hindi

New Delhi: Delhi University’s (DUs) first cut-off list clearly indicates the growing demand for the Hindi language course. Boom in Hindi media is considered the reason for the growing demand.
 
The cut-off percent for admission has shown an increase in almost all colleges, compared to last year. In IP College for Women it has increased from last year’s 64 per cent to 68 per cent, in Zakir Husain College it has hiked from 60 per cent to 63 per cent. In Daulat Ram College, the cut-off has gone up from 62 per cent to 63 per cent.                                                                           
 
As per the sources, the increase in Hindi news channels has encouraged more students to opt for the subject. The boom in Hindi media has created the need for writers and editors, students are taking up the subjects with hope of filling up the requirements. 

Moreover, students interested in media, Hindi is a good option and it is heartening to see the subject gaining more popularity over the years. Members of various college faculties say the language is increasingly being seen as a vehicle for more job openings.
