CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) 2012

The Common Entrance Examination for Design 2012, popularly known as CEED, date has been announced. CEED is an all India examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. It is a qualifying examination for the following postgraduate programmes in design, offered in the session 2012.
 
Master of Design (M Des) Programmes offered:
  • II Sc Bangalore: M Des in Product Design and Engineering*
  • IIT Bombay: M Des in Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Animation, Interaction Design, Mobility and Vehicle Design.
  • IIT Delhi: M Des in Industrial Design
  • IIT Guwahati: M Des in Design
  • IIT Kanpur: M Des in Industrial Design*
  • PhD Programmes in Design (IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay)
Note: GATE qualified candidates would also be considered for courses marked with (*).

December 4, 2011 (from 1400 hrs to 1700 hrs)

Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Mumbai, and Roorkee

Note:
Request for change of examination city (after submission of application form) will be accepted till November 20, 2011 with a fee of Rs 400 to be paid in the form of DD drawn in favor of 'IIT Bombay'.

How to apply
Interested candidates need to the application form online by logging in to the website: http://www.iitb.ac.in/. After filling in and submitting the application form, one must take the printout of the submitted application form. The application fee (non refundable) is Rs 950 (Rs 475 for SC/ST/PD candidates). Application fee can be paid through any of the following modes:
  • SBI Cash Voucher (through any SBI Branch) - After filling the online application form, a SBI Cash Voucher (containing candidate’s name and other details) will also be generated along with the application printout. One needs to take the SBI voucher to any SBI Branch within India and make the payment. Candidates must attach the IITB copy of the SBI cash voucher along with the application printout.
  • Demand Draft (DD) - Candidate can also pay the requisite fee through DD drawn in favour of 'IIT Bombay', payable at Mumbai. However, DD should be obtained before filling the online application form as DD details will be needed while filling the application form. DD should have the validity of 6 months.
The duly filled in application form along with the DD/ SBI Cash Voucher (whichever applicable) should be submitted in person at the counter of GATE Office, IIT Bombay or mailed only through Registered Post/Speed Post to so the GATE Office, IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai-400076 latest by October 14, 2011.
