Kurukshetra University came into existence in 1956 as a unitary residential University. The University is situated on the western bank of Brahm Sarovar in the holy city of Kurukshetra, the land of the historical Mahabharata. It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Apart from being recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), the University has also been graded with 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
