Kurukshetra University, set up in the year 1956, is a unitary residential University. It is located on the western bank of Brahm Sarovar in the holy city of Kurukshetra, the land of the historical Mahabharata. It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Apart from being recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), it has also been graded with an 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
