University of Calcutta, also known as Calcutta University, West Bengal, has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission into Master of Philosophy (M Phil) course in Economics. The course will be offered at University’s Department of Economics in the ensuing session commencing from September 3, 2012. Selection of the candidates will be made through written test, followed by interview, to be conducted by the University on the below mentioned date.
Note:
- Candidates who have qualified NET, SET or equivalent national level examination are exempted from the entrance test. However, they will have to appear in the personal interview.
- Eligible candidates will be called by the University to submit Statement of Purpose (SOP) on the basis of which the final interview will be conducted.
- The two hour entrance test will comprise of 120 multiple choice question (MCQ) based on Microeconomic Theory (30 marks), Macroeconomic Theory (30 marks), Statistics & Econometrics (30 marks) and Mathematical Economics (30 marks).

Entrance test is scheduled to be held on July 9, 2012 (from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm)
Interview of the selected candidates will be conducted on August 6, 2012 (from 11 am onwards)

Interested candidates may obtain the application form from Calcutta University Sales Counter (College Street Campus) between 10.30 am and 3.00 pm on all working days by paying Rs 465 (additional Rs 35 for copy of admission brochure). The duly filled-in application form complete in all respect should be submitted to the office of the Senior Secretary, University College of Arts and Commerce (UCAC) College Street Campus, Asutosh Building, Ground Floor, Room No. 3G, on or before June 22, 2012 (between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm on all working days).
