CBSE All Set With Measures to Check Malpractice for AIPMT 2012

New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, is all set with measures to keep a check on malpractice during the All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Test 2012, popularly known as AIPMT. AIPMT 2012 is scheduled to be held on May 13, 2012 at exam centres across the country. As per sources, over 30,788 candidates will take the test, this year.

The Board has decided to install mobile phone jammers and fingerprint scanners at the centres during the test. The Board has also planned to take two fingerprints and photographs of the examinees, which will be matched with the candidates later, at the time of counseling or joining the college. Moreover, candidates taking the exam will be videographed.

Sources informed that one mobile jammer is expected to be used for a room accommodating at least 24 students. The jammers are expected to block cell phone / blue-tooth service at the centre, including CDMA, GSM, 3G, 4G, spy camera and Wi-Fi. However, considering the risk of power cuts, agencies are planning to use jammers that work on battery.

The Board has further declared that despite of all malpractice warnings, if any candidate is found to have been involved in any such activity, he or she shall be debarred from taking this exam permanently in future and shall also be liable for criminal action. The Board has identified 48 centres, including 12 in Kochi, 11 in Delhi, seven each in Lucknow and Jaipur and one in Chennai, where security measures will be practiced.

As per the notification issued by CBSE, the banned items include cell phones, pagers or any other electronic gadget, everyday utilities such as slide rules, calculators, log tables, geometry box and digital watches with calculators. Text material, printed or written, bits of papers, envelope or any other material except the admit card is prohibited in the exam hall. So is tea, coffee, cold drinks or snacks during exam hours.
