Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU), Assam, is one of the well-known open Universities. The University was founded on September 7, 2005 with the passing of Assam Legislative Assembly Act (XXXVII of 2005). It was set up to provide Open University and distance education across the state. The University offers educational courses in wide range of disciplines at different degree levels. Moreover, the course structures of the university have been designed at par with the national curriculum. The main motive behind the setting up of the University was to prmote and encourage through distance mode and to reach the unreached through the system of Open and Distance Learning.
The main motto of the University is ‘Education Beyond Barriers’ of age, academic background and geographical boundaries.
