Symbiosis Introduces New Skill Development Courses

Pune: The Symbiosis Institute of Skill Development (SISD) has the good news for those aspiring for basic and advance skill development courses, as the institute has introduced new courses for backhoe loader, fork lift operator and crane operator training from this academic year.
 
Swati Mujumdar, principal director of the Symbiosis Open Education Society (SOES), said, at the launch ceremony, upcoming projects like Pune Metro, Mumbai Bangalore Industrial Corridor, Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor will create huge job opportunities for crane, backhoe and fork lift operators. She added that these training programmes can help unemployed youth and college drop outs to acquire employable skills and obtain jobs in the fast growing sectors such as construction and infrastructure development.
 
The Symbiosis Institute of Skill Development (SISD), which is situated at Daravali close to Paud, about km from Pune, is a part of the Symbiosis Open Education Society (SOES). The institute provides the students basic and advance skill development courses in high growth sectors including automotives, manufacturing and construction industries.
 
Meanwhile, emphasizing the importance of the new courses, Majumdar said, in the fast growing construction and manufacturing sector, use of modern heavy construction and material handling equipment has been on the rise. This has led to a huge demand for skilled operators.
 
The launch ceremony was also attended by P N Mehta, head (training), Escorts Limited, Sudhir Vaidya, deputy general manager, Godrej, Vivek Sinare, head, SISD, and Amol Jadhav, project coordinator. Mehta said skilled operators can help reduce cost on fuel and maintenance. Vaidya praised the SISD effort towards exploring newer avenues for skill development studies.
