Vellore: VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is scheduled to be conducted on April 18, for admission into the Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) program at Vellore Institute of Technology. About 1.4 lakh candidates (1.16 lakh boys and 32,620 girls) are expected to appear for VITEEE to compete for the 2,150 seats available.
As per the records, Andhra Pradesh tops the list of maximum number of candidates of 29,000 plus appearing for the exam. It is followed by Uttar Pradesh (24419), Bihar (14602), Rajasthan (11475) and Tamil Nadu (9357). In Delhi alone, 11678 students will appear for the exam. In the district of Vellore, about 2626 candidates will appear for it. Moreover, a total of 83,000 plus students from the Hindi speaking community will also appear this time.
VITEE for the first time goes global, as VIT would hold the entrance test outside the country, when 68 candidates from the United Arab Emirates would appear for the test in Dubai. In India, VITEE would be conducted in 189 centers in 71 cities across all states except, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland and Mizoram. There is an increase in the number of test centers this year, with the addition of nineteen more centers in its list.
