Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in New Delhi is a statutory body established under an Act of Parliament, the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 (Act No. XXXVIII of 1949). The institute was set up with an aim to regulate of the profession of Chartered Accountants in India. Common Proficiency Test, also known as CPT, is conducted by ICAI. It is an entry level examination for admission to the Chartered Accountancy Courses.
