Ahmedabad: The result for the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) 12th Class Science stream has been declared today, i.e. on May 12, 2011 (Thursday). GSHSEB, for the first time, did not release the list of toppers. Instead, the results are published in grades and percentile.
Last year, the state education department had decided to put gradation system into practice. The grade system has been introduced with the purpose to make school education less stressful for students. Moreover, the Gujarat government has made the announcement that the students topping class X and XII will not be glorified.
As per sources, the Board will only release a booklet on the day and the results will be uploaded on the board's website. In addition, Board officials have also decided to not call a press conference this year, which has raised many eyebrows.
Sources in the education department have informed that the board officials are under pressure because of the many problems that has hit the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) this year. In addition, officials are also worried because of the changes made by the state government in engineering and pharmacy admission norms.
