The Joint Entrance Examination Council Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP), Lucknow, has announced the UP Polytechnic Entrance Exam 2011 result today, i.e. on June 15, 2011. Every year, the examination is conducted in Uttar Pradesh for admission into various polytechnic institutes across the state.
This year, the council has decided to offer relaxation in the eligibility criteria for appearing in the examination. Now, students with 35 per cent marks in their SSC examinations (Standard X examination) will also be allowed to appear in the UP Polytechnic Entrance Exam 2011. As per sources, the decision regarding the relaxation in the eligibility criteria was taken by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) last week.
Earlier, students with an aggregate of 50 per cent marks in SSC examinations were allowed to appear for the exam. Sources have informed that the criteria not only went against the HRD ministry's move to popularize technical education, but also resulted in many seats lying vacant.
