TIFR Mumbai Announces Graduate School Admission (GS 2012)

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, has invited applications from eligible candidates to register for Graduate School Admissions (GS-2012), to be offered in session 2012. The admission will be done for the below given courses. Admission will be made on the basis of candidate’s performance in the written test followed by interviews conducted by the Institute.

How to apply
Interested candidates may apply online by logging into the TIFR’s official website: http://univ.tifr.res.in/ and must fill the online application following all the instructions given.
 
Offline applications- Students from remote areas who do not have access to internet may apply manually. Those candidates may send a requisition for application form (without DD) along with a self-addressed stamped (Rs 20) envelope (size 25cm x 17cm) superscribed GS-2012 (Subject) to : For Biology and M Sc Wildlife Biology & Conservation: Admissions Section, NCBS, and Bangalore [For other subjects, except Science Education: Asstt. Registrar (Academic), TIFR, Mumbai]. The duly filled in application form should be sent along with DD and two passport size photographs (one pasted on the application and one stapled to it).
 
The application fee is Rs 500 for online application and Rs 550 for manual (offline) applications. Female candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.The application can either be paid online by Debit/Credit Card or through DD. While sending application fee through DD, candidates must write their name, reference code and telephone number written behind it.DD should be drawn as per the specifications given below:
  • Biology and Wildlife Biology & Conservation: While applying for the subject,DD should be drawn on State Bank of India in favour of National Centre for Biological Science payable at Bangalore.
  • Other Subjects: DD should be drawn on State Bank of India in favour of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research payable at Mumbai.
Note: There is a provision of walk-in test, in which candidates who have missed the last date to apply can take the test as Walk-ins. This would be subject to availability of seats at the centre of their choice. In walk in case the application fee is Rs 800 (No waivers). Female candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.
 
The duly filled in application forms (online or offline whichever applicable) should be submitted latest by October 16, 2011. For more detailed information regarding admission and application procedures candidates are requested to visit the Institute’s aforementioned official website.
