Department of Biotechnology, University of Calcutta, also known as Calcutta University, Kolkata, West Bengal, has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission into PhD (Doctorate of Philosophy) programme, to be offered in the upcoming session 2012. Admission will be made on the basis of candidate’s performance in the Research Eligibility Test 2012, also known as RET, followed by interview, to be conducted by the University department.
Note: Candidates who are NET / GATE (or equivalent national level entrance test), M Tech, M Phil qualified would not be required to appear in the admission test but shall have to appear for the interview to be considered for selection.

How to Apply
Interested candidates may obtain the prescribed application form from the office of the Department of Biotechnology, Calcutta University. One can also download the same from the University's official website: http://www.caluniv.ac.in/. The direct link to download the same is: http://www.caluniv.ac.in/admission%20notice/phd-biotech/form-biotech.pdf. Application fee is Rs 100 which can either be deposited by cash or in the form of DD through duly filled in CU Challan, endorsed by the Head of the Department, Department of Biotechnology, University of Calcutta. The duly filled-in and completed application form, along with all requisite enclosure documents (details given on the website), should be submitted at the office of the Department of Biotechnology, Calcutta University, latest by August 14, 2012.
