National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, Orissa, has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission into PhD (Doctorate of Philosophy) programme in the following schools of basic sciences, to be offered in the (Odd Semester) commencing from July 2012. Candidates will first be short-listed by the selection committee and only the selected candidates will be called for an interview, supplemented by a written test (if necessary), for admission.

- School of Biological Science
- School of Chemical Sciences
- School of Physical Sciences
- School of Mathematical Sciences
Note: Candidates must note that all candidates called for the Test / Interview will be paid to and fro single, second-sleeper class railway fare by the shortest route from their place of residence to the Institute / venue of the Test / Interview. They have to produce evidence (railway ticket) in support of their claim.
Date of Exam
The test / interview are tentatively fixed as per the following schedule:
Chemistry - June 7 & 8, 2012
Mathematics - June 11, 2012
Physics - June 12 & 13, 2012
Biology - June 14 & 15, 2012

How to Apply
Interested candidates are required to download the prescribed application form and reference letter (format) from the Institute’s official website: http://www.niser.ac.in/. The direct link to download the same is: http://www.niser.ac.in/notices/2012/academic/phd-advt-form-refletter-aug-2012.pdf. However, the application form can also be obtained by post or in person from the Academic Section, NISER Bhubaneswar (complete address is mentioned below). The requisition for application through post should be sent along with a self-addressed envelope (A4 size, 21 cm X 30 cm) affixed with postage stamps of Rs 25, latest by April 26, 2012. The duly filled-in application form along with the requisite documents (list given on the website) should be sent to the below given address, latest by April 30, 2012.
