New Delhi: Good news for students seeking admission in Delhi University! Reportedly, Delhi University (DU) is most likely to issue offline (physical) application forms, along with online applications, for admissions into upcoming session i.e. 2012, soon.
As per sources, the University has decided to re-install the good old centralized physical application forms in addition to online applications. However, the panel of principals that earlier submitted a report on ways to revamp the admissions process had suggested online registration as the suitable option to handle the large number of applications received by the university every year.
Regarding the same, a senior DU official stated that the University wants to make sure that every student gets a chance to apply to the University. While most applicants who desire to study at DU know how to use computers and have access to the internet, but there are a few who do not know and hence, should not be left out. Though, the final decision is yet to be taken.
In addition, another official informed that for the first time ever, DU is introducing online registration system for admissions. Therefore, to help anyone who has a problem, the University is planning to set up help centers at various points in the city. Further, there are plans to set up 15 such centers, he added.
Physical application forms were done away with last year when the University did not have any form of pre-admission registration. This year, however, both have returned. According to officials, last years’ experiment was straight away rejected by college principals, who forced the administration to bring back application forms.
