Located in Orissa, Sambalpur University is one of the famous Universities. The University was founded in the year 1967, with an aim of offering high quality education across the state. The territorial jurisdiction of the University covers 10 districts of the state of Odisha namely Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Bargarh, Bolangir, Subarnapur, Nawapara, Kalahandi, Boudh and Athamallik Sub-Division of Angul District.
At present, the University offers several post graduate courses in 27 distinct disciplines via its various affiliated colleges and institutes. Besides, the University is equipped with all the state-of-art facilities along with hostel facilities for its outstation students. In total the University houses ten post-graduate hostels in its campus out of which four are ladies hostels and six are gents’ hostels.
