AMU Collaborates With Indonesian Institute

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Tuesday, i.e. December 16, 2009 has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia's Darussalam Institute of Islamic Studies. The MoU was signed with the aim to jointly organize conferences and cultural programmes and exchange faculty members.
 
According to the MoU, these two institutes agreed to organize conferences, seminars and scientific discussions on various issues, including developing curriculum on Islamic Studies, Shariah, Arabic language and Islamic heritage and bringing the social and human sciences into an Islamic standpoint.
 
In addition, both the institutions would hold joint cultural programmes and exchange faculty members, according the MoU signed after a seven-member delegation of the Darussalam Institute met AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis and other senior university officials. Moreover, the Indonesian delegation also visited the departments of Theology, Islamic studies, Arabic and the University library.
