EFLU Hyderabad to Conduct English Language Test

HyderabadEnglish and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) would introduce an all-India English Language Testing Authority (AIELTA) to test the English knowledge skills of Indian students from next year.
 
EFLU grew out of the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL), a deemed university established by the Central government in 1958 to improve the standards of the teaching of English and foreign languages in the country.
 
Prof Abhay Maurya Hyderabad-based EFLU, Vice-Chancellor, said that the test would be conducted on the outlines of TOEFL and International English Language Testing System (IELTS). It would help students planning to go abroad for selection by corporates. Discussions are held with Cambridge University, which would assist the EFLU in conducting the test. AIELTA test would be on par with TOEFL and IELTS conducted by the British Council. The University would soon design an English examination module that could be used by corporate in hiring employees.
 
He also mentioned that MA (English) would be offered through distance mode from the ensuing academic year. This would prove beneficial for the students from rural areas and teachers, who aspire to gain a credible degree and enhance their knowledge. Moreover, the university is also offering a five year Integrated M A course in English for students. It is introduced for the ones who have passed their 12th standard examination. After joining the course, students can opt out after three years with BA (Hons) degree or can continue for five years to take the MA degree. State Government has allotted a land area of 100 acres at Pochampally in Nalgonda district to EFLU, to develop a full-fledged campus within a few years.
