ICET 2009 - Two Lakh Students to Appear

Hyderabad: Approximate 2.12 lakh candidates would appear for Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) across the state on May 9, 2009. As per the records candidates will be competing for about 47,000 Master of Computer Application (MCA) seats and 35,000 Master of Business Administration (MBA) seats through the ICET which is being conducted by Andhra University this year.

SN Raju, ICET-2009 Convenor, said that special arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the examination. Total of 68 exam centers allotted across the state and special observers in each center are sent to ensure that students would not face any problems. Venues of exam had been changed in some cases where the electronic voting machines (EVMs) happened to be stored in the same centres. He further mentioned about the relocating of four centres in Mahaboobnagar, Nizamabad and Karimnagar districts. He also added that students are given prior information about the changes occurred in exam centres.

According to the changes that have occurred in test centers in Mahaboobnagar, the exam centre has been shifted from NTR Women’s College to Government Junior College and in Karimnagar from SRR Government College to Vivekananda College. In Nizamabad district, instead of the government colleges for boys and girls the exams would be held at Nishitha Degree College and CSI Degree College respectively. It was expected that there would be more applicants for ICET in the wake of low campus placement rate for engineering courses and economic slowdown, but there were less applications this year.
