Integrated MBA at JNTU Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, is introducing a new 5 year integrated programme in MBA from the upcoming session 2009-10. Admission to the programme is based on the EAMCET ranks.

The five year integrated programme will be offered in seven streams including Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Biotechnology and Geo-spatial technology. The programme will allow students to opt for a combination of B Tech and MBA or B Tech and M Tech. The courses will be called Integrated MBA and Integrated M Tech. The JNTU officials said that unlike the usual integrated programmes, the students will be given two degrees (B Tech with MBA or M Tech) at the end of five years, and thus will also be referred to as dual degree programme.

Each of the courses other than Biotechnology and Geo-spatial Technology will have 30 seats out of which 18 will be reserved for students who have opted for M Tech and 12 will be for students who have opted for MBA. Biotechnology and Geo-spatial Technology students will not be allowed to opt for MBA, though the seat strength will be 30. JNTU, Vice-Chancellor, D N Reddy said that the students will have to decide whether they want to go in for MBA or M Tech before admission. Students will not be able to change their options after the academic session starts.

Initially, about 150 students will be able to opt for dual degree of B Tech and M Tech and 60 students will be able to opt for a dual degree of B Tech and MBA. The masters programme will start at the beginning of the fourth year. The students will study the graduation syllabus for three years and do post graduation syllabus for two years.
