Janki Devi Memorial College to Launch New Programmes

New Delhi: Janki Devi Memorial College (JDMC) plans to offer a full time B Ed programme from the next academic session. JDMC will be the second college in Delhi University (DU) to offer a B Ed programme after Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College. As per the sources, the college has also got a formal approval from concerned authorities to launch the programme.
 
Indu Anand, Principal, JDMC, said that all necessary infrastructure is set up. The courses offered would be the same as at DU’s Faculty of Education. She also added that admissions would be on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the faculty every year.
 
JDMC has an array of exciting courses waiting for students planning to take admission this year. The colleges in order to improve employment opportunities for its graduates will be starting short-term courses in Tourism, English Language Proficiency and Computer Application. The college has tied up with the Delhi Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (DITTM) to offer a three-month training programme in tourism. The course would equip students in operating basic computerised reservation system and other tourism-related skills.
 
Moreover, it has also has come into collaboration with DU’s Institute of Life Long Learning (ILLL) to start a basic-level course in English language proficiency. The programme is introduced to enhance communication skills of students, which plays an important role during the time of recruitment. Students aspiring to join the programme will have to pay the courses fee of Rs 2500. The classes would be held thrice a week after college hours.
 
The college also plans to introduce certification course in Microsoft Office from the ensuing academic season, which will train students in Computer Application. The course would be offered in both regular classroom and online mode. Those students enrolling for the regular classes would be charged a fee of Rs 4,500 for the two-month programme. For students joining the course through the online medium would be charged Rs 2,500 as fee amount.
