Revised Fee Structure in Andhra Professional Colleges

Hyderabad: As per the notice issued by Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE), all professional courses in Andhra Pradesh will become costlier from this year. Admissions and Fee Regulation Committee (AFRC) has revised the fee structure after a period of three years and prior notice issued in this regard by the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) to all the professional colleges across the state.

Dr M D Christopher, Secretary, APSCHE said that all the professional courses like engineering, pharmacy, MBA, MCA and BEd will become costlier from this year. Such a change has occurred after a period of three years as it was last revised by the AFRC in the academic year 2006-07. The hike is likely to put more pressure on the state exchequer, because nearly 70 per cent of the students admitted in professional courses are sponsored by the government under the “total fee reimbursement scheme. Last year, the state allotted a total of Rs 2,500 crore for the scheme.

He also said that on the directions of the AFRC, notification has been already issued regarding the proposal to revise the fee structure of professional courses. The representatives of various college managements associations are expected to submit their proposals on the quantum of hike by May 10. Further he said that the decision will be taken by AFRC, only after analysis of the proposals. The college managements are demanding a 25 per cent hike to the existing fee structure. However, the officials are opposed to this as it will put enormous burden on the government.
