AMU To Help Students With Religious Counseling

Lucknow: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will offer religious counseling and spiritual teaching programmes to help students overcome psychological stress. As per sources, the announcement was made by an AMU official on Monday i.e. March 29, 2010.
 
Rahat Abrar, AMU's official spokesperson has also told the sources that within two-three days, they will launch such programmes. He also added that on the Directions of Vice Chancellor (VC) P.K. Abdul Azis, they have roped in religious leaders to help students overcome their anxieties and mental stress.

Further, the University has also set up a counseling cell, which will be run by faculty members of the theology, psychology and psychiatry departments of the university. According to the statement of an official of the University, recent incidents of suicides, attempted suicides and running away from the university brought to the fore psychological problems faced by the student community.
