BCI Says Test Mandatory To Practice Law in Courts

New Delhi: On Wednesday i.e. on June 2, 2010,the Bar Council of India (BCI) has said that from this year, fresh law graduates will have to clear an entry level test to be eligible to practice law in courts.
 
Gopal Subramanium, BCI Chairman and Solicitor General, have announced that the test will be conducted twice every year by the BCI, the apex statutory body to regulate the legal education and profession in the country.
 
As per sources, the announcement was made in the presence of Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily on the occasion of the launch of BCI's vision document and its new website. Moreover, the move comes after repeated suggestions from the Supreme Court to the Centre to raise the standard of legal education and the profession in India.
