Delhi HC Approves Three Year Course for Non-MBBS to Practice in Villages

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court (HC) has given its approval to introduce a three year course for non-MBBS person to practice medicine in primary health centers in rural areas. As per sources, the Medical Council of India (MCI) will soon prepare syllabus for the course.
 
A division bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Manmohan said that it is better to be treated by a doctor than a quack. The bench said this while giving the approval to the Ministry of Health to proceed with the introduction of new course.
 
As per sources, in order to practice in primary health care centers, a person has to qualify the new course and six months internship subsequently. Further, sources informed that MCI has told the Bench that it will prepare the syllabus within two months. The new course will be implemented from next academic year, sources added.
