DU Third Cut Off List 2010 Published

New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) has come up with its third cut-off list for admission into various degree level courses in its affiliated colleges today, i.e. on July 1, 2010. The choice is very limited for students aspiring to get admission in science courses. Most colleges are done with their admission into honours courses like physics, chemistry, computer science and BSc physical and life sciences. Meanwhile, admissions in BA programme are still open in 37 colleges.

A plunge of 3% in BCom (H) and BCom (H) course is being announced in the third cut-off list. While Hans Raj College has kept admissions open without changing the second cutoff list, Hindu College has relaxed it by 0.25%. Vinay Kumar Srivastava, principal of Hindu College, has said that they had to keep admissions open, as not many candidates showed up for admissions to this course this time. He also added that they hope to get enough students in the third list.

With the third cut-off list being published, admission to B Com programme is open across 27 colleges. Ramjas and Lady Shri Ram have lowered the B Com (H) cut-offs by 1% and 0.5%, respectively, and have reopened admissions to the programme. At Ramjas, the cut-off for B Com course, too, has dipped by 1.5%. Rajendra Prasad, Ramjas Principal, has said that they had to reopen admissions in B Com (H) as a lot of students withdrew after the second list. He added that, however, under the third list, they will consider economics in the best of four aggregate for admissions to B Com programme, which was not the case till the second list.

Furthermore, unlike the trend till last year, science courses that will be semester-based from this year seem to have caught the fancy of students this time. Except Botany (H) and Zoology (H), which are open for admissions in five and eight colleges, respectively, all seats in chemistry (H) are taken. Physics (H) is open only in Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences at 76.33% cutoff. Maths (H) is on offer at 10 colleges, including LSR (90%), Jesus and Mary (84.5%) and Kamala Nehru (80%).

Students who wish to pursue social science courses have a reason to smile. Except economics (H), popular courses like English (H), History (H) and Political Science (H) are open across many colleges. The most sought after English (H) course is still looking for takers across 20 colleges, including 10 CATE colleges. While Bharati College reduced the CATE cutoff by a whopping 7.5% in the third list, Swami Shraddhanand College is ready to admit students to English (H) at a cut-off as low as 45% (as per the department of English). Meanwhile, History (H) and Political Science (H) are open in 23 and 22 colleges, respectively.

Moreover, admissions for OBC aspirants are open in most courses across colleges with the cut-off dropping by 8-10% for this category. The admissions in the third list are scheduled to be held from Friday till Monday.
