Indira Gandhi College Inks Pact With BHELSIA

Tiruchirapalli: Shrimati Indira Gandhi College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BHEL Small and Medium Industries' Association (BHELSIA). The MoU was being signed with the purpose to place its MBA and MCA students as in-plant trainees in industries in the Association's fold. In his address, President of the BHELSIA Rajappa Rajkumar, said that the MoU was a pragmatic step to bridge the perceived institution-industry gap.
 
Additional General Manager (Outsourcing) of BHEL T V Krishnan, in the presence of Principal K Meena, College Secretary K Kunjithapatham and President of BHELSIA Rajappa Rajkumar, has ordered twenty students for taking up projects in order to provide them with valuable industry exposure. Dr K Meena, Principal of the college, said that a promising beginning had been made through the MoU, to facilitate students to undergo training programmes and undertake industry visits.
 
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Krishnan said that it was desirous of students exploring opportunities in entrepreneurship in a situation of boom arising from BHEL's phenomenal expansion. He further added that with the BHEL setting an outsourcing target of nearly five lakh tonnes for 2010-11 and seven lakh tonnes for 2011-12, the wealth would be distributed in the region.
