DU Students Secure 22 Jobs in First Round of Central Placements

New Delhi: Delhi University (DU), New Delhi, students secured 22 jobs in the first round of central placements. The first round of central placements session was conducted yesterday i.e. November 8, 2011. The registration process for the central placements was concluded on October 31.
 
As per sources, in the placement drive, four companies visited the campus to hire final-year students as well as those pursuing post-graduation. In addition, over 800 students participated in the recruitment process which went on till late evening.
 
Sources confirmed that a job portal hired 22 students mainly for sales and marketing, while three other companies, including an NGO, went back with resumes of students.
 
Officials from the Central Placement Cell (CPC) said that on the first day, the average salary offered was Rs 2.5 lakh. The next round of placements is scheduled to be held on January 29, 2012.
 
According to the sources, in the upcoming placement session, a Japanese company will visit the campus with the highest placement offer being Rs 1.25 lakh per month. The company is likely to offer jobs in sales with posting in Tokyo for the first three years.
 
Last year, CPC managed to place about 1,000 students out of a total of 12,000 who had registered. Thirty companies had visited the campus for placements last season which included PSUs, KPOs, BPOs, and NGOs.
