DU to Organize Northeast Students Festival

New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) will organize a Northeast festival on Monday i.e. January 24, 2011. As per sources, DU is organizing the festival with an aim to form a special bond with students of the northeast. Another aim of the festival is to make the students of the northeast more aware of safety measures, sources added.
 
On Friday i.e. January 21, 2011, S K Vij, Dean of Students Welfare, DU, said that the main aim of the fest - Empowering Youth: The North East Students in Delhi University - is to make the students hailing from the region more familiar with the university system. Sources informed that the festival will have a seminar, which is chaired by Agatha Sangma, Minister of State for Rural Development.
 
Further. Mr. Vij told that the festival also aims to make the students more aware about the safety measures that need to be taken care of as well as the need to foster closer integration with other people in the varsity. Furthermore, sources informed that deputy commissioner of police of North Delhi, S S Yadav will communicate with students and talk about safety measures. Mr. Vij told that the festival will also include a cultural programme.
