IGNOU to Organize Two-Day Workshop on Food Safety Sector

New Delhi: School of Agriculture (SOA) of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is conducting a two-day workshop on the development of educational framework for human resource in food safety sector. The workshop is being conducted in association with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on November 3 and 4, 2011.
 
Prof. M.K. Salooja, Director, SOA, IGNOU, said that the main aim of organizing the workshop is to discuss and draw solutions on various issues in order to meet the human resource requirement of the food safety sector for the 10 years in line, thereby ensuring about the availability of safe and wholesome food to all consumers. He further added that by conducting the workshop, the structure and modalities will help in developing food safety professionals competent and able enough to plan, develop, and implement the food safety and quality management aspects at national level.
 
The two-day workshop will witness experts and professionals from educational institutions, private organizations involved in food business, government functionaries, food industry and laboratories. Recommendations from these personnel will be highly useful and valuable in developing the appropriate training and educational programmes for various stakeholders in the food chain, such as food handlers, food auditors, and food analysts.
