IIM-A Alumni to Offer Tips to IIM Aspirants

Ahmedabad: Those students who have successfully cleared the Common Admission Test (CAT) and are now waiting to face the interview calls, will be guided by the alumni of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).

For the first time, some IIM-A alumni will be offering free tips on how to face group discussion and personal interview (GD&PI) to MBA aspirants. The initiative is in association with Ahmedabad Management Association, where the workshop will be held on January 23, 2011 from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm.

The workshop includes a presentation session lesveraging the experiences of IIM-A alumni and present students. In the opinion of the organizers most coaching institutions in the country do not provide personalized training to B-school aspirants. According to them exclusive coaching sessions with necessary feedback by the trainers will ensure a student's success in the interview and GD stages.

As per sources, at least 15 students from Ahmedabad have got interview calls from the country's top management school, IIM-A following the CAT-2010 results which were declared on Wednesday. Three from Gujarat have scored 99.9 percentile. This year, IIM-A, IIM-Bangalore (IIM-B) and IIM-Calcutta (IIM-C) will coordinate to ease the troubles of the candidates who have to visit different venues for admission interviews of different IIMs. Through the new initiative, candidates who get interview calls from two or all the three of these IIMs will be able to give all the interviews on consecutive days at just one centre.
