IIM- A Graduates Receives More International Job Offers

Ahmedabad: Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has received a huge number of international placement offers for its students. According to the business school, the job offers from consulting and banking firms have taken a hike this year.
 
Reportedly, IIM-A released a report on Thursday stating that consulting firms like Oliver Wyman, Analysys Mason and Heidrick & Struggles made international offers, spanning across New York, Dubai and Singapore. The report also said that IIM-A is adopting international standards of placement this year. However, the factual report disclosing the placement statistics would be brought out after the convocation on March 26, 2011.
 
According to the sources, amongst the marketing firms, HUL and Proctor & Gamble offered good opportunities in Singapore whereas Cadbury Kraft and Dabur also made international offers for the IIM-A graduates. The final placement process for Post Graduate Programme (PGP) was began on February 12 and ended on March 4.
 
As per the officially released report issued by IIM-A, the institute has seen a rapid increase in the number of banks taking part in the placement process. Amongst all, the major recruiters were Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Royal Bank of Scotland, HSBC and Citibank, report said.
 
The majority of roles offered during the placement process were in investment banking and global marketing. A batch size of nearly 314 PGP students sat for the placement procedure. And over 120 firms participated in the lateral and final placement process at IIM-A, as quoted in the report.
 
While releasing the report, an IIM-A official said that nearly 37 per cent of the batch cleared the lateral placements, which were held during the months of January and February. He also added that over 20 firms were the part of the lateral recruitment process and students with 18 months of prior work experience were eligible for the same.
 
Lateral placement process included major recruiting firms like Amazon, Deloitte Consulting, Bain, Barclays Bank, Yes Bank, Clearwater, Cognizant, Microsoft and Infoedge. However, only seven students i.e. 2 percent of the batch opted out of the placement procedure to become entrepreneurs, as the report stated.
