IIM-A to Launch Elective Course on Theatre From February

Ahemedabad: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) will introduce an elective course on theatre to “understand oppression” using participatory theatre, from February this year. In order to conduct classes several thespians have already been arranged.

The course structure is designed with the purpose to add to the skill set of future managers by developing communicative strategies in group, teamwork based on the lived experiences of team members, privileging the development of collective goals and shared values, and the capacity for empathetic leadership.

As per sources, the course has been introduced by the IIM-A’s Public Systems Group with an initial intake of 20 participants. Classes will be conducted at IIM-A as well as Budhan Theatre in Chhara Nagar, Ahmedabad.

Furthermore, the IIM-A faculty, co-instructors and facilitators for the course will include Budhan Theatre Team, Ahmedabad; Pranab Mukherjee of the Best of Campus Theatre, Kolkata; and Prabir Bose and Anju Uppal from Media Matters Theatre Group.
