IIM-B Cases to be Circulated by Harvard Publishing

Bangalore: Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) cases will now be circulated by Harvard Business Publishing (HBP),  to B-schools across the world. Value chain migration at IT bellwether Infosys, store operations management at Subhiksha and supply chain management at HAL are among the dozen teaching cases of IIM-B.

IIM-B has turn out to be the first B-school of the nation to have such an exclusive distribution pact with HBP, a subsidiary of Harvard University. As per the agreement, HBP will circulate a collection of teaching cases developed by the IIM-B faculty for an initial period of three years.

At the initial stage, 12 cases and their related teaching notes (pedagogical aid for educators) will be marketed. Also, the B-school is planning to add 24 new cases to its collection every year. Some of the current cases are about Kudremukh Iron Ore Company, Jet Airways, Vaatsalya Hospitals and Hindalco's acquisition of Novelis.

Pankaj Chandra, IIM-B director said that the partnership with Harvard Business Publishing is a significant milestone in the institute's journey to achieve its long-term vision of establishing itself as a global centre of management research and education. He said the occasion marks the recognition of the relevant and in-depth research being carried out by faculty at IIM-B. Mr Chndra added that they have consciously invested in research-based publication, and this agreement will add impetus to our efforts in this area.

Besides, with this, IIM-B joins a select group of business schools such as the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and the Darden School of Business that also distribute their cases through HBP.
