JIMS Extends Helping Hand to the Deprived

New Delhi: Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) Group on May 18, 2011, awarded certificates to the students pursuing various courses run by its social responsibility project Karmaarth - One Step Ahead. The initiative was taken with an objective to impart self-empowerment to the society’s deprived students.
 
According to a press release, the certificate award function was organized at JIMS Campus in Rohini Sector-5. Prof. Rajni Abbi, Hon’ble Mayor of Delhi was the Chief Guest of the occasion. The students were awarded the prizes and certificates under the gracious presence of the Guest of Honour - Dr. Sambit Patra, well-known Social Activist. 
 
As per sources, under the sponsorship of Jagan Nath Gupta Memorial Educational Society, a registered non-profit organization, namely Karmaarth aims extending helping hand towards society’s deprived lot. Also, it offers several vocational training programme to the school dropouts, domestic servants, illiterate house wives and uneducated youth. The project also promotes literacy to illiterate children and adults dwelling in slums of Delhi.  
 
The main aim of Karmaarth is to teach such individuals the art of becoming independent and confident by teaching them income-generating ability that allows them to earn a living and support their inadequate family income. The courses offered include traditional home-based vocations that girls can pursue even after they get married. The range of vocational courses imparted at Karmaarth includes: Beauty Culture, Cutting & Tailoring, Computer Basic, Computer Hardware, Mobile Repairing and Electrician & Electronic.
