IMT Ghaziabad Conducts Convocation 2012

Ghaziabad: Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (IMT Ghaziabad), Uttar Pradesh, is likely to conduct its convocation 2012 ceremony today i.e. on March 17, 2012 at 4.00 pm in the Institute’s campus. The convocation will be conducted for the graduating batch of PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) 2012.
 
As per the notification issued by the Institute, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Hon’ble Union Minister of Finance, Government of India, will grace the ceremony as the Chief Guest and deliver the Convocation Address. However, the event will be presided over by Shri. Kamal Nath, Union Minister of Urban Development, Government of India and President, Board of Governors, Institute of Management Technology.
 
After addressing the convocation, the Chief Guest would award the diplomas to the successful students of the various PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management Programs. The event would also be marked with the traditional IMT Ghaziabad way of felicitating the distinguished alumnus for the year.
 
According to Dr. Bibek Banerjee, Director, IMT Ghaziabad, Convocation 2012 would premeditated on the theme: Business 2.0: Envisioning Business for Sustainability & Development. He further explained that Business 2.0 is a proactive effort by businesses to stay ahead of the game by developing and redesigning business models taking into account the various factors towards becoming sustainable and successful.
 
IMT, being a thought leader in management education and development, has taken this initiative to highlight the various challenges and opportunities that come with adoption of Business 2.0 by the public and private entities alike, he added. In addition, while commenting on the theme, Professor Sadanand Prusty of IMT Ghaziabad stated that earlier competition was less and options were few. The focus for corporates, a few years ago was on the simple goal of profit maximization which has now broadened to include sustainability and ethics as well.
 
Moreover, earlier the companies followed a hire and fire policy which has now given way to grooming, developing and retaining employees, he explained. The Convocation theme promises to explore the role of the contemporary business leader who is entrusted with the responsibility of harnessing human capacity to the fullest in order to achieve organizational goals.
