National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, will organize its fifth convocation ceremony on June 1, 2012.

NIT Jamshedpur Fifth Convocation Scheduled on June 1

Jamshedpur: Fifth convocation of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, is scheduled to be held on June 1, 2012 from 10.30 am onwards. The ceremony will be conducted in Xavier Labor Research Institute (XLRI) Auditorium, C H Area, Sakchi, Jamshedpur. All candidates who graduated in the year of 2009-10 and 2010-11 will be awarded degrees during the convocation.

 
As per the notification issued by the institute, Padma Vibhushan Sri B Muthuraman, Vice-Chairman, Tata Steel, has consented to be the chief guest and deliver the convocation address. In addition, Prof V S Chauhan, Director, ICGEB, New Delhi, and Chairman, BOG NIT Jamshedpur, will preside over the function. All eligible candidates, who desire to receive their degrees in person, are required to send their consent in writing to the Dean (Academic), NIT Jamshedpur.
 
In addition, one can also register himself / herself online by filling the registration form made available on the official website of the institute: http://www.nitjsr.ac.in/. The last date for registering or submitting the consent is May 25, 2012. However, a full dress rehearsal will be conducted on May 31, 2012 at 3.00 pm at XLRI Auditorium. Candidates must attend the rehearsal, as only those students who attend the rehearsal will be permitted to participate in the convocation.
 
NIT Jamshedpur was set up in 1960 as Regional Institute of Technology as one of the eight Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) as part of the Second Five-Year Plan (1956-1961). Currently, it is managed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and falls under one of the 30 NITs spread across India. The institute offers courses at undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral levels in various departments of engineering.
