AISFM to Organize Workshop For Engineering Students from May 27

A month long workshop will be organized on filmmaking for engineering students by the Annapurna International School of Film and Media (AISFM). AISFM is run by the family of legendary Telugu actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The workshop will commence from May 27, 2013.

The month long workshop would involve activities like working in teams to develop stories and to produce films. This procedure is expected to help the engineering students develop soft skills that are sought by employers. Moreover, the workshop would cover script writing, basic camera operations, editing and sound mixing, with a focus on teamwork and creativity.

In a statement issued by AIFSM president and popular Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna has said that for many engineering students, the focus on technical studies and preparing for exams can squeeze out any time for creative endeavours. He mentioned that's the reason that they have scheduled this workshop in the summer holidays, so that students can build their communication skills without impacting their studies.

Furthermore, he added that the need for such a workshop was felt as most students lack the verbal and written communication skills, creativity, and teamwork and manners. He said he believes that schools like these can help students by assisting them with the hands-on teamwork experience that is missed in schools and universities. He added that also, soft skills are characteristics that make us more likable and help with making new friends.

The Annapurna International School of Film and Media is India’s first private, non-profit and completely student-oriented media school.
