Magadh University to Introduce Three New Vocational Courses

Patna: Magadh University, with headquarters at Bodh Gaya, is all set to start three new vocational courses i.e. Bachelor of Physical Education (BPE), Master of Physical Education (MPE) and Yoga Science Education. These courses will be offered from the next academic session. According to the sources, the decision to launch these courses was finalized at the academic council meeting of the university, held at its headquarters. However, the formal announcement was made recently by Arun Kumar, Vice-Chancellor (VC), Magadh University.
 
Explaining further, VC informed that the varsity is already in the process of forming a committee of technical experts, which will draft the courses’ curriculum, its details and requirements. This committee will also work extensively on the formulation of necessary regulations, so that the courses can start in the stipulated timeframe. In fact, many overseas students are also keen to study yoga science at the university, he mentioned.
 
Discussing further about the outcome of the meeting, Kumar said that, apart from the approval of courses, the council has decided to take important measures in order to improve the quality of research work, in the university. Citing an example, he explained that the university has decided to implement rules and regulations meant for research work in Science faculty, on research work being done in Commerce and Humanities as well.
 
In the meantime, at its recent syndicate meeting, the University council has also given approval to its annual budget of Rs 428.17 crore, for year 2013-2014. In addition, pending promotions of several teachers was also permitted. Established by Bihar State University Act 1976, Magadh University is one of the premier Universities in the state of Bihar. With over four post Graduate Departments, 44 Constituent and 85 affiliated Colleges, the University offers optimal education to its students.
