Sambalpur University Opts for Online Admission

This year onwards, the Sambalpur University has decided to introduce the online method for admission into various courses. To begin with, the University will conduct online admissions for various postgraduate courses for the academic year 2013-14.
Shukadeb Naik, SU Post Graduate Council Chairman, has informed that after the announcement of admission dates, students can log into the University’s website. Students willing to apply will be able to download the prospectus and submit the application online and upload their photo at the designated place. In case, a student makes any mistake while filling up the form, it can easily be edited. Thereafter, they will get a reference number, which they will have to write in their forms. They have to get a printout of the submitted form and send the hard copy along with photocopies of necessary documents to the PG department concerned for processing for their pre-admission entrance test. In addition, students can also download admit cards for the entrance.
Besides, Mr Naik has mentioned that it is very crucial for students should check eligibility criteria properly before applying for any course, as the university will not intimate if their forms are rejected on the eligibility grounds. List of the successful candidates will be displayed in order of their merit obtained in the entrance exam. He also informed that students applying for multiple courses have to deposit separate application forms. E-governance cell of the University with the help of a private vendor is undertaking the e-admission process.
The Sambalpur University in total offers 22 regular postgraduate courses having a sanctioned strength of 578, besides 12 self-financing courses with an intake of 282 students. As per sources, last year around 3,000 students had applied for admission to various courses.
