St. Stephen's College Online Registration Commences from June 1

Delhi University affiliated St. Stephen's College is planning to start its registration process from June 1, 2013. This year, the registration procedure at St. Stephen's College would be completely online.

As per sources, this year, there will no paper forms except for applicants who fall into the category of disabilities. Untill last year, the college had provisions for both online registration and paper forms. As per the college, the reason behind the shift is to make the process much simpler and easier for the students.

In a statement Principal Valson Thampu of St Stephen's College has said that they have decided to switch to the online format this time. The printed forms will be available, in a limited extent, only for students with disabilities. He mentioned that incase of PWD students, the application process is going to be free of cost and they will receive counseling in the college.

Moreover, Thampu has said that the idea of making the registration process online was to make the college a paper-free campus. Last year a large number of students had applied online. It has been observed that students find the option of online registration more convenient. Otherwise, there are long queues of applicants in the college every year in these harsh summer months for the printed format. He added that they want to make all their procedures user-friendly and environment-friendly as possible.

K M Mathew, the tutor for admissions at St. Stephen has said that students applying under the PWD category can fill forms online. However, rather being directed to the payment gateway, they will be required to take a printout of the form and submit it in the college. A copy of the disability certificate has to be attached with the form.

As per sources, even if the exact dates for admission to undergraduate courses in the college is yet to be finalized. But the college authorities have said that the admission might start around June 5. Mr Mathew has mentioned that the admissions in college might start a couple of days before June 5. But they are closing the registration process on June 19, the same day when the application process in other colleges ends.

Sources also informed that the registration and admission procedure of St. Stephen's and Jesus and Mary College (JMC), is independent from other colleges of DU. As the students will have to fill centralized OMR forms for admission in all other colleges. However, these two colleges issue separate application forms. St. Stephen's also conducts interviews to further shortlist students who meet the cut-off.
