UGC Releases Cut-off Marks For December 2012 NET

New Delhi: University Grants Commission has released the cut-off marks for National Eligibility Test, held in the Month of December 2012. This time, the cut-off for different categories has been prepared on the basis of aggregate marks of all three papers for which the examination was conducted.
 
As per the information issued by the UGC, 3669 candidates managed to secure the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), however, 35557 candidates succeeded in attaining eligibility for lectureship. UGC had followed new norms for preparing this year's results under which a merit list of top 15% of the total candidates making a place in the result was prepared and only they have been declared successful while others who had managed to secure minimum eligibility marks for each of the three papers have been declared unsuccessful.
 
This time only Sociology has registered a rise among the main 10 subject for JRFs while the others have fallen as compared to the June 2012 NET. The cut-off for general category JRF of Sociology was 72.41 in the June 2012 NET that has been risen to 73.71 for the December 2012 NET. Similarly to General Category, SC cut off has also been risen from 65.52 to 65.71. However, the OBC merit for the subject has been dipped from 71.26 to 70.29.
 
For December 2012 NET, maximum candidates had chosen history as the subject of their choice to appear in the exam. The cut-off for History subjects in the June 2012 NET was 69.14 for General category that has come down to 68 in the December 2012 NET. OBC cut-off has come down from 67.43 to 65.14 and SC cut-offs have fallen from 62.86 to 60.57.
