Vardhman Mahavir Open University Kota Goes Online

Vardhman Mahavir Open University (VMOU) Kota is uploading 1000 lectures on all subjects on its website and youtube in order to impart knowledge to students all over the world.

Vinay Kumar Pathak, Vice-Chancellor, Kota University said “Every student has access to the internet and every day spends quality time on it. The lectures, once available on the net, will give them the freedom to view and learn anywhere and anytime.”He further said technological advancement has made lot of changes in the field of education and distance learning has emerged more result oriented and meaningful.

The University plans to open vocational study centers for tribals at Pratapgarh and Banswara. The study centers will be opened in order to educate the tribals and bring them into the mainstream of society. The University plans to introduce short-term course via distance learning so that students enrolled in degree programme can be benefitted. The University will also provide study material to benefit the students.

About VMOU

Vardhman Mahavir Open University (VMOU) is an Open University in Kota, Rajasthan established in July 23rd, 1987. It was earlier known as Kota Open University and was renamed at VMOU on September 21st, 2002. The University was setup to provide education to majority of the population, particularly disadvantaged groups such as SC/ST, people living in rural and remote areas, women and in-service people. VMOU provides education in various streams such as humanities, commerce, library science and informatics. Regional centres of the university are located at Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur.
