Admission in IIIT Begins On June 8

Hyderabad: Admission procedure in IIITs (International Institute of Information Technologies) or Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Knowledge Technologies in Andhra Pradesh would begin from June 8. The students are required to send in applications to secure admissions to the three IIITs at Basar, Nuzuvidu and Idupulapaya. The last date of receiving the filled-in applications at the university is June 28.
 
As per sources, the university authorities have prepared a list of students who are considered eligible to join the different programs offered in the ensuing session 2009. K C Reddy, Chairman of AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE), said that the Mandal Education Officer (MEO) is assigned the task of intimating the eligible students. The schools with top rankers would be intimated in advance and the applications will be sent to these schools by June 8. Even those students who are not intimated can apply for the seat by taking application forms from the MEO. The IIITs were set up to enroll students from rural areas of the state.
 
In each of the three IIITs there would be an intake of 2000 students based on Mandal-wise merit list. In addition to 6000 seats, there would be 200 super-numerary seats which would be filled by foreign nationals, NRIs or students from other states. Fifteen per cent of the state wide merit seats which would be around 900 seats would be allotted for students from all the schools in the state. There would be 2036 seats which would be allotted to students from Andhra region, 1067 seats from Rayalaseema region and 1,742 seats from Telangana region.
