Berhampur: Berhampur University (BU) has started two new courses at post-graduate level in Geophysics and Marine Microbiology from the ensuing session 2009-10. It is for the first time the University has started these courses in Orissa.
Bijay Kumar Sahu, Vice-Chancellor of BU, said that the university has started these courses to meet the increasing demands of professionals in this field. He further said that presently these are self-financed courses. We have approached the University Grants Commission (UGC) to sanction the course. These courses have also got the approval from the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Union government.
BU with its twenty post-graduate departments offers specialized subjects and M Phil programmes. Some of the faculties like Mass Communication, Tourism and Indian Monuments, Electronic Science, Computer Science, Marine Science, Military Science make the University stand apart form other universities across the nation.
