Bhubneswar: Some of the Bhubneswar based B - schools are contemplating a hike in the fee, from the ensuing 2009-10 academic sessions for the full time management programs. KIIT School of Management and Regional College of Management have already announced their revised fee structures.
KIIT School of Management has hiked the fees of Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) and Post Graduate Program in Rural Management (PGRM), applicable form the academic session of 2009 - 10. It has announced a hike of Rs one lakh for both the two year courses. Students will have to pay Rs 7.5 lakh for PGPM course and Rs 6.5 lakh for PGRM course. KIIT sources also mentioned that the increase in fee was expected following the hike in salaries of UGC scale faculty members.
Regional College of Management (RCM) is also in the move of hike in fee from the 2009-10 academic sessions. RCM Director, Pabir Pal, said that they are still pondering over the fact of increasing fee of the two year MBA program from Rs 1.8 lakh to 2.80 lakh. Moreover, he said that a fee of Rs 2.80 lakh for management program would be a reasonable, as compared to other management institutes in the city.
Biju Patnaik Institute of Information Technology and Management Studies (BIITM) is also planning to raise the fee, for the regular management program from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.25 from the 2009-10 session, according to a statement made by a top official of BIITM.
However, other management institutes such as Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB), Institute of Information and Management Science (IMIS) and the Asian School of Business Management have no such plans, especially when the institutes are grappling with the widespread economic recession and finding it tough to secure placements for the students.
