Hyderabad: Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), scheduled to be conducted on May 17, 2009, for admission into country's law school has been postponed due to question paper leak as per a notification issued by NALSAR University of Law Hyderabad.
Registrar of Lucknow’s Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University (RMLNLU) reported about the leak. He said that some unidentified persons broke the latches and the locks of two boxes containing the question papers on their way to RMLNLU. The breach was noticed by him while receiving the content sent via Blue Dart Courier from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.The incident was immediately conveyed to NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad the nodal university for CLAT 2009.
Prof Veer Singh, vice-chancellor, NALSAR and CLAT convener, has announced that the new dates for the tests will be announced after the meeting of CLAT core committee, comprising the vice-chancellors of the country’s 11 elite law universities. The candidates shall retain the Hall Tickets already dispatched to them and they shall use the same in the rescheduled CLAT-2009 Test. The news of CLAT postponement, however, brought relief to those who had applied for the CLAT and the Under Graduate Entrance Test (UGET) for admission to medical, engineering and dental courses in private colleges. Several students had complained that the schedules of both the tests overlapped.
