DU Could Allot More Seats to B.Com (Hons)

New Delhi: Good news for the students seeking admission into the B.Com (Hons) in Delhi University (DU), as this year DU might increase the total number of seats available for the program. The varsity is likely to shift the B Com program, initially known as B Com (Pass) to the School of Open Learning (SOL) and add more seats to it.

According to Prof Deepak Pental, Vice-Chancellor of DU, the final decision is yet to be taken and the proposal would be submitted before the Academic Council for the final approval before implementation. The seats of the B Com program will be amended in B Com (Hons) course and would help in more students pursuing the course. Moreover, the B Com program introduced four years back as a modified version of the B Com (Pass) course by the university is one of the most sought after programs of DU.

Students with a score of over 85% marks are considered to be eligible for the courses. The decision is taken on behalf of the students who despite scoring high marks are unable pursue this course because of the limited number of seats available. It is also mentioned that if a student does not have a Commerce background, he/she won't be eligible to pursue the course as Accountancy is not applicable without Mathematics. However, this criterion is facing criticism by teacher's union in light of the context that is not in best interest of the students.
