Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Government has directed the concerned District Magistrates (DMs) to shut down nine fake universities running across the state. According to Kamran Rizvi, Education Secretary, an order has been issued on the basis of the information provided by University Grants Commission (UGC) in its website about fake universities.
The state government has directed the DMs of Allahabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Aligarh, Mathura, Pratapgarh and Noida to file FIRs against these universities and seal their campuses. He further mentioned the name of the fake institutions that are Mahila Gram Vidyapeeth University, Prayag and Hindi Vidyapeeth, Prayag in Allahahad, Indian Education Council of UP in Lucknow, National University of Electro Homoeopathy and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University, Aligarh.
A few others in the list are UP University Kosikala and Gurukal University, Vrindavan in Mathura, Maharana Pratap Shikshan Niketan University in Pratapgarh and Indraprastha Shiksha Parishad in Noida.
